Leatherworking is the art of taking hides and skins of various creatures and transforming them into useable leather, which can then be crafted into a number of items. You can visit Hirenn Darmeth to learn the basics, and then later on see Jeyarp Grotemey to learn leather armor crafting.
Basic Leather Making Process
- Scrape hide or skin to make either a Large, Medium, or Small Hide, depending on what you started with. Use a Hide Scraper with a Leatherworking Table to do this.
- Combine the scraped Hide with a number of bottles of Tanning Crystal Acid, depending on size, to make a Tanning Hide.
- Tan the treated hide by using it with a Water Barrel to produce a Piece of Leather.
Making Armor
- Cut Leather Pieces into required sizes (see book Making Leather Armor) using a Leather Cutter with a Leatherworking Table. Remember, you can always cut a piece down to a smaller size later, but you can’t put them back together again.
- Sew together Leather Pieces using Copper Needle and Thread to make Armor Parts.
- Hold the Armor Parts in your hand and use the Puncher to make Armor Kits.
- Sew Pieces together using Copper Needle and Thread with a Leatherworking Table to finish the Leather Armor.
