There are many creatures throughout Yliakum, in here you will find information on both ferocious (and not so ferocious) creatures as well as rogues and other vile characters.
Wild Animals
Rarely are wild animals found in large cities except for rats which come and infest the sewers and cellars. These animals are often the best for people seeking to train since they range from simple creatures such as rats to extremely powerful monsters such as ulbernauts. Because of this, some creatures have been brought to the Hydlaa Arena so that various people can fight them without having to look for them.
Arangma
Forest Arangma
The easiest to find, this arangma subspecies is also the easiest to defeat.
Appearance: Green, very green, to blend in with its suroundings. | ![]() |
Strength: Due to their brittle forms, Forest Arangmas are fairly easy to defeat.
Natural Habitat: Wooded Areas and Forests. |
Frost Arangma
Weaver Arangma
Spending most of its time skulking around, a weaver arangma may often crawl away rather than seeking a fight with a potential aggressor.
Vesper Arangma
This subspecies of arangma can be found in the darkest, deepest shadows.
Sand Arangma
This subspecies of arangma can be found in sandy places, such as deserts.
Biorlitrosan
A semi-intelligent, quadrupedal mammal. It uses limited native speech. It is herbivorous, and thusly eats grass and grains. It can manipulate tools using tusks and a thick, forked, prehensile tongue.
Appearance: All grey, and about 1.5m high at the shoulder.
Strength: Unknown. | |
Natural Habitat: Biorlitrosans live in burrows or simple huts on all six levels, but forage in grasslands. |
Barn Bouncetail
Barn Bouncetails are insects, so named because it jumps on its hind legs while using its tail for control. Although not rare, they are not very common either. Barn Bouncetails originally come from The Barn, the second level, and just like many other insects, they eat plants. However, they seem to like certain kinds of rare flowers in particular, which makes them very much disliked in the gardeners' community. Luckily for gardeners, Barn Bouncetails flee from the odour of consumer pheromones (consumers being one of their natural enemies).
Appearance: A green insect-like creature that is half a centimeter in length.
Strength: Fairly stupid and not a serious threat to the experienced.
Natural Habitat: They are often found around plants and flowers. |
Carkarass
Carkarasses are one of the only type of flying creatures, along with Pterosaurs and Megarases. They are seldom seen in the world of the living, but many people coming back from the Death Realm claim to have seen some flying around. Not much is known about them; scientists know only that they live in the Death Realm and that they are reptiles capable of hovering, gliding and low flight. Coming across one is seen as a bad omen.
Poison Carkarass
Fire Carkarass
Clacker
Clackers are very closely related to crabs, having a hard exoskeleton, which gives them protection and makes them very robust. Their two front limbs are tipped with razor-sharp blades, which can be used to inflict serious damage on anyone who comes within range, but they are generally harmless if you keep your distance. They are named for the sound they produce with their legs. Clacker legs have been at times fashioned into crude tools, and their meat is considered edible, though an 'acquired taste'. They are one of the few omnivorous insects.
Jade Clacker
Thunder Clacker
Unlike common Clackers, Thunderclackers are a brilliant, deep green shade. Because of their coloring, they often blend in with grass and flora, and are rarely seen.

Consumer
Consumers are rarely seen and little is known of them. Only in recent years have consumers been spotted in any numbers, and scientists speculate that they arrived via the great pits into which the dead are thrown. They will eat anything that fits into their large, round mouth, and some people claim that consumers have the ability to "upgrade" themselves from what they eat. For example, if they eat intelligent creatures, they will themselves become more intelligent.
Imago Consumer

Derghir
Like the Kran, they are based out of silicon as opposed to carbon. Also like the Kran, their diet consists of sand and crystals. Derghirs are small creatures with a relatively high intelligence. They are able to construct buildings from what looks like stone and crystal, they also appear to have a social order of some kind. The Derghir also have their own complex language. Some people claim to have learned this language, stating that they can communicate with the Derghir. Other people say that the Derghir are a ravaging threat to the civilizations of Yliakum.
Gawerts
The only insectoid semi-intelligent specie.Live in tree colonies, and are capable of simple language.
Appearance: Similar to dwarves in size except for a larger abdomen, four thin arms and four wings.Usually green in colour. | File:Nopic.png |
Strength: Scavenger. | |
Natural Habitat: Native to the Barn but will fly to the Dome if food is scarce. |
Gobbles
Gobbles are unpleasant creatures living in Hydlaa's sewers and probably other dark places. They are semi-intelligent and display a certain amount of cunning. It is said among scientists that they can even speak to each other. Their long limbs allow them to run quickly, either to fight or flee.
Eagle Gobbles
Eagle Gobbles, members of the 'Eagle' Clan of Gobbles, are identical in build to the common gobble, but adorn themselves with tattoos and, sometimes, jewellery. This body decoration is indicative of their fairly high degree of intelligence.
Serpent Gobbles
Serpent Gobbles are members of the 'Serpent' Clan of Gobbles. It is believed that their custom of wearing more jewellery than other Gobbles is to signify their higher degree of intelligence.
Gorweal
A carnivorous species with both animal and plant characteristics. Starts as a seed-like egg and adapts to local flora, taking its shape. Protects its 'camouflage' and can cultivate it. Its sense of smell and ability to detect vibration make stealth impossible, even if it can be picked out of the foliage.

Grendol
Most Grendol are of a malignant nature, although there are rumours about the existence of an intelligent, neutral being resembling a Grendol existing somewhere in one of the nether realms.
Toxic Grendol
While most people go to the nether regions to find a smarter version of the Grendol, they would be surprised to learn it is right in their own backyard. Although not as smart as rumored, the Toxic Grendol is in fact a smarter version of the Grendol.
Rat
The most common vile creature in Yliakum, rats have become a pest in the large towns. They proliferate where food is freely available, and always seem able to find some way to get it. They will eat the rotting corpses in sewers as well as the fresh meat in someone's cupboard. They have been known to attack people if they got too close, however they are generally so inoffensive that kids often tease them just for fun.

Wrathrat
Wrathrats are very much like common rats in shape, however, their appearance is dramatically different. Only half of the head has flesh, the rest is skeleton; their bodies are skinned, bare muscles are open to the air and held together in places with coarse stitchings. It is unsure whether they feed or not since they do not seem to be alive in the natural sense. Some speculate that a sorcerer cast a spell upon some rats, dooming them never to rest in peace.
Riverling
A reptilian specie that thrives in damp caves. About 2m tall when upright, but almost always hunched to fit under low ceilings. Yellow-gray and has a long spiked tail. Eats fish but will attack to protect habitat. Uses bones from large animals or sentients as weapons, but otherwise unintelligent.

Tloke
A large light-green insect. Similar to clackers in size but docile and herbivorous, eating mostly grass. Some nobles use tlokes for adornment and low maintenance grazing of their lawns. Their saddleback shape is cause for breeding tlokes for size, in the hopes they can grow large enough to ride. Many people consider the tloke a 'lucky animal' and will not kill it despite its parts' use in alchemy.

Only the bravest or most foolhardy of adventurers will attempt to kill ulbernauts. Their parts are valued for many things; their hides and claws are highly valuable to 'fur and animal parts' traders, while their hearts are prized by magicians and priests as a component of ritual magic.

Domesticated Animals
Domesticated animals are creatures which have been adapted to work or to just provide company. Of the latter, the most common species are the Groffel and the Yulbar. However, there are some people who might want a clacker for a pet. Animals like the Pterosaur, the Goujah and the Megaras aren't often kept as pets, but as working beasts as they are quite practical.
