Vision, nightvision, infravision

Vision, night-vision, and infra-vision are the three levels of vision to be found among the races. These three have different aspects to then when it comes to seeing in the dark or the depths of the labyrinths. Vision being blind in the dark. Night-vision being able to see well in the darkness but only where there is some light present. Infravision being able to see in the pitch black of darkness where no light at all is present. In the category of vision we have the simple humans. This race seems to be the newest to the underground life and their eyes have yet to adjust to the limited light.

In the category of nightvision you will find many of the races of PlaneShift. These races include the Elves, Ynnwn, Diaboli, Enkidukai, and the Klyros. The elves are listed in this group cause like the humans, they are newer to the underground life. Though they live in the thick dark forests and the deep lakes and oceans, light has been present and their eyes are very well suited to deal with even the most limited light. Ynnwn being a combination of Diaboli and elf, they two share the limited light vision. The Diaboli seem to have come from a volcanic world. This would suggest that there was at least a light glow from the lava for them to see by. In the case of the Klyros, they have the limited vision due to their eyes; the white drop like eyes reflect any slight light and that is how they see in the dark. With no light at all, there would be nothing to reflect so no way for them to see. This is the same case as with the Enkidukai. Their cat like eyes only make the best of existing light, if no light exists, they cannot see. In the case of the night-vision races, torch light grants great advantage in areas of pitch darkness.

In the category of infravision there are only a slight number of races. Only the Lemur, Kran and the dwarves fit into this group. The Lemur were first created in the depths of the world so they have had optimal time to adjust to zero light. They need no devises to shed light into darkness. Their eyes do that for them. In the case of the Dwarves, though they were a race that existed in the above world at one time, they still lived mainly inside mountains and caves. This life has also gave them optimal time to adjust to zero light. The Krans have a very special metabolism and body, and also their sense are quite particular. Their body seems to react to heat vibrations and so we can see in complete darkness through the sensitive crystals of their body.
